  • The New England Patriots announced that they will hold a press conference Sunday, and there is a lot of speculation that it is to announce Rob Ninkovich’s retirement.
  • Ninkovich excelled in the run game from 2011 to 2013, posting run defense grades of 83.6, 79.3, and 89.1, all among the best in the league.
  • However, he has struggled the last two seasons, posting grades of 51.1 in 2015, and 51.0 in 2016, the two lowest of his long career — he has played 7,021 career snaps including the playoffs.
  • Ninkovich produced 22 total pressures last year, which was last among the qualified 4-3 DEs in New England. His pass-rushing productivity rating of 8.8 ranked t-22nd among 53 qualified 4-3 DEs in the NFL last season.
