- According to Dave Birkett’s twitter, the Detroit Lions’ defensive end Armonty Bryant has been suspended by the league the first four games of the season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. This is the third time in roughly a year Bryant has been suspended. The Lions claimed Bryant off waivers after being released by Cleveland in 2016.
- In limited snaps last season Bryant earned a 51.9 overall grade. Bryant has graded “poor” in every season of his career.
- In 2015 Bryant was effective defending the run, earning the fifth highest run-stop percentage among qualifying AFC 3-4 outside linebackers. He was ineffective rushing the passer however, and his 7.5 pass-rush productivity ranked just 40th out of 52 qualifying 3-4 outside linebackers.
