  • Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that free-agent linebacker Zachary Orr will visit with the Detroit Lions on Thursday. Orr recently retired from football due to a serious spinal condition but is considering making a comeback. For the Lions, signing him would be an interesting cap to overhauling the linebacker unit this offseason.
  • Heading into the 2017 offseason the Lions had one of the lowest graded linebacking units in the league. The unit that featured Tahir Whitehead, who ranked 86th of 87 linebackers in 2016 with a grade of 38.0 and a 2016 5th round draft pick Antwione Williams who didn’t play much better as a rookie (42.3).
  • So far, this offseason the Lions have already added three linebackers expected to make the final 53-man roster. In free agency they added Paul Worrilow, who in limited snaps earned the best grade of his career in 2016 (71.0). Via the draft, the Lions added Jarrad Davis with their first pick (PFF’s #3 LB in the 2017 draft class), and Jalen Reeves-Maybin in the fourth round (PFF’s #14 LB in the 2017 draft class).
  • Orr would make the fourth linebacker addition to the team this off-season and fifth including 2016 that would be expected to make the final roster. Yesterday we wrote about how Orr has performed recently.
