- Despite signing a three-year extension last March, Seattle Seahawks WR Jermaine Kearse may still find his roster spot under threat. Releasing Kearse will save the Seahawks $2.2 million and they would avoid paying him his $5 million salary in 2018 by moving on.
- Kearse regressed last season after two solid years of grading in 2014 and 2015; his PFF overall grade of 48.5 last year ranked 110 among 115 qualifying receivers, the worst of his career. In 2015, Kearse ranked 50th with an overall PFF grade of 74.1 and ranked 51st in 2014 with an overall PFF grade of 74.2.
- In 2015, Kearse had a WR rating (the rating a quarterback has when throwing to a particular receiver) of 126.1, fourth among receivers with at least 48 targets. Compare this to 2016, when his WR rating of 57.5 ranked 93rd among 96 qualifying wide receivers.
