- Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports that Tony Jefferson had sports hernia surgery “4 or 5 weeks ago”, and was limited by John Harbaugh on the first day of training camp as a precaution. Jefferson signed a four-year, $34-million deal with the Baltimore Ravens in March.
- Strong run defense led Jefferson to his best year yet for the Cardinals with a grade of 88.4, good for eighth among 90 qualifying safeties. His run defense grade of 95.6 was second best among those qualifying safeties.
- Jefferson was an unstoppable force in the run game for the Cardinals in 2016, accumulating 27 run stops (T-1st) on 348 run snaps. Jefferson will now be paired with Eric Weddle, who ranked fourth with 24 stops on 361 run snaps, to create an impressive run-stopping tandem.
