  • The Jacksonville Jaguars announced the signing of safety Jeron Johnson and in a corresponding move releasing safety James Sample.
  • Johnson, who is entering his seventh NFL season, has played 491 defensive snaps over his career. His most extensive playing time came with the Washington Redskins in 2015, where he logged 199 snaps.
  • Sample was a fourth round pick by the Jaguars in 2015, but was plagued by injuries in his tenure with the team. He played 133 snaps across four games as shoulder injuries prematurely ended his rookie season and kept him from playing in 2016.
