- Cam Inman of mercurynews.com reports San Francisco 49ers running back Tim Hightower took the first running back rep at practice. Hightower was acquired via free agency earlier this offseason after two seasons with the New Orleans Saints and looks to be very involved in the 49ers offense this year.
- After earning the seventh-highest grade among running backs in 2015 with a grade of 84.2 overall, Hightower’s play took a major dip in 2016. His 2016 grade of 47.3 overall ranked just 58th out of 61 qualifying running backs.
- Hightower was less effective forcing missed tackles in 2016 than he was in 2015. In 2016, he forced just nine missed tackles on 133 carries, compared to 13 on 96 in 2015.
