- According to Ian Rapoport, the New York Giants are “optimistic” star wideout Odell Beckham Jr. will play Monday night against the Detroit Lions. The Giants only managed three points on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys in Beckham’s absence.
- Eli Manning struggled in Beckham’s absence, fielding a grade of 56.5, 23rd among 31 eligible quarterbacks in Week 1. He targeted wide receivers on less than 50 percent of his passes (18/37) and had to rely more on tight ends and running backs than usually.
- The Giant’s receiving core also struggled mightily, with Roger Lewis, Sterling Shepard, and Brandon Marshall all grading in the “poor” category. Out of 96 qualifying receivers in Week 1, Lewis, Shepard, and Marshall ranked 54th, 83rd, and 87th, respectively.
