- The Oakland Raiders announced Tuesday that cornerback Gareon Conley has “passed his physical” and is now practicing with the team. Oakland drafted Conley with the 24th pick in the first round this year.
- Conley can't get on the field fast enough for the Raiders to help their struggling secondary. Of the 171 cornerbacks that have played 50-plus snaps this preseason, Oakland's Sean Smith is ranked 169th with a 35.3 PFF grade, and T.J. Carrie is dead last at 33.6.
- In 2016 at Ohio State Conley only gave up 14 catches and 159 yards receiving on 309 snaps in coverage, and allowed the lowest passer rating on throws into his coverage of all FBS cornerbacks with 100-plus snaps in coverage at 14.0.
