- The Miami Dolphins placed linebacker Koa Misi on injured reserve because of a neck injury, and the team used his open roster spot to sign cornerback Alterraun Verner, according to the Miami Herald.
- Verner appeared in 241 snaps over eight games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, earning a 76.6 overall grade. His 2015 was a career-worst for him with a 42.6 overall mark, but prior to that he had never posted a grade below 77.0 over some stellar years with the Tennessee Titans.
- The Dolphins struggled to find consistency opposite Byron Maxwell last season, as Bobby McCain, Tony Lippett and Xavien Howard all finished with overall grades under 65.0. Verner has the potential to be an upgrade.
