Dallas TE Gathers has second strong preseason game

  • Dallas Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers found the end zone for the second straight game on Saturday night, and continues his push to crack the 53-man roster.
  • Following on from the Hall of Fame Game, where he achieved a PFF receiving grade of 87.2 and averaged 2.68 yards per route run, he continued his performance in his second game against the Los Angeles Rams, racking up 47 yards from his 18 passing routes, for an average of 2.61 yards per route run.
  • After two games, Gathers has lined up in six different positions, and run 55 percent of his passing routes from the slot. He has logged seven receptions from eight targets with 2 touchdowns, and Cowboys quarterbacks have a perfect passer rating (158.3) when throwing his way.
