  • The Arizona Cardinals will shift veteran left tackle Jared Veldheer to the right side in 2017, making room for 2015 first round pick D.J. Humphries to protect Carson Palmer’s blindside.
  • Veldheer has had a very solid NFL career to date, posting good PFF grades of more than 80 in 5 of the last 6 seasons (the lone exception being an injury shortened 2013 campaign).
  • After being inactive for the entirety of his rookie season, D.J. Humphries posted a PFF grade of 70.3 over 13 starts last year, the last 3 of which came at left tackle.
  • Humphries had his struggles in pass protection, ranking 43rd of 61 qualifying offensive tackles in pass blocking efficiency for the season (93.4).
  • Encouragingly, during his 3 starts at left tackle, Humphries did not allow a sack and marginally improved his PBE to 93.6. He posted PFF grades of 73.0, 54.5 and 74.4 in those 3 games.
  • Veldheer fared better than Humphries as a pass blocker last season, allowing just 1 sack and posting a PBE of 95.3 at left tackle before tearing his triceps in Week 8.
