  • The Denver Broncos are expected to start Paxton Lynch at quarterback in Week 12 against the Oakland Raiders, with former starter Trevor Siemian acting as his backup. New offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave is “expected to take a slimmed-down game plan into the week,” per ESPN’s Jeff Legwold.
  • Quarterback play has been the major issue for Denver in 2017, with Siemian and Brock Osweiler ranked 37th and 39th among 39 qualifying quarterbacks through 11 weeks.
  • Siemian’s struggles earlier in the year were largely due to an inability to handle pressure. When kept clean, he was the 16th-most accurate quarterback in Weeks 1-8 with an adjusted completion percentage of 71.8 percent. However, his adjusted completion percentage fell to just 52.9 when pressured, which ranked second-to-last among quarterbacks.
  • Osweiler replaced Siemian after Week 8 but failed to breathe life into the offense. He was accurate on 67.6 percent of his passes, which ranked 22nd out of 26 quarterbacks in Weeks 9-11. He did suffer from 11 dropped passes by his receivers, which was the most for a quarterback in that span, while being pressured on 40.7 percent of dropbacks (fourth-most in the league).
  • In 2015, Lynch was the 13th-graded quarterback in the nation. The former Memphis signal-caller posted a season grade of 84.5, including an impressive rushing grade of 82.1. Last season, he only saw action in three games and did have some struggles, posting a season grade of 44.7 across his 174 snaps as a rookie.
