- The San Francisco 49ers have released center Jeremy Zuttah, news that was first reported by Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area on Twitter.
- Zuttah was widely expected to start for the 49ers, who acquired him via a trade with the Ravens in March, following a season in which he recorded a PFF overall grade of 76.7, ranking 17th among centers. This was higher than the other two centers currently on the 49ers roster, Daniel Kilgore (71.5) and Tim Barnes (53.9), the latter spending 2016 with the Los Angeles Rams.
- However, Zuttah did allow 29 total quarterback pressures in 2016, which ranked only behind Barnes (30 pressures) out of 27 eligible centers (minimum of 382 passing snaps). Kilgore also struggled in this area allowing 23 total quarterback pressures, ranking seventh-highest.
