- Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee has reported that San Francisco 49ers defensive end Tank Carradine will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a high ankle sprain in Thursday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
- So far in 2017 Carradine has been on the field for 37.4 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, the highest percentage of his career to date, and has an overall grade of 79.9 that ranks 27th among 118 eligible edge defenders.
- Barrows indicates that the loss of Carradine will likely mean that first-round draft pick Solomon Thomas will enter the starting lineup. Currently, Thomas’s pass-rush productivity of 4.3 (measuring pressure created on a per-snap basis with a weighting toward sacks) is considerably lower than Carradine’s 10.5.
