2019 Free Agency Profile: Rodger Saffold

Rodger Saffold is coming off a great year for the Los Angeles Rams. He finished the season with an overall grade of 73.2, tying for eighth among guards. The Rams have a lot of good players to pay now and in the future, and the 30-year-old guard should be a priority if Los Angeles wants to keep arguably the best offensive line in football intact.

Pro Football Focus will be running through 50-plus pending/soon-to-be free agents between January 7, 2019 and March 8, 2019 to offer a detailed analysis of the top players bound for new contracts and (possibly) new teams in 2019. We want to house all of the important grades, advanced stats and key analysis for each player, so you know exactly what your team is getting in free agency.

One of the guys behind Todd Gurley’s amazing 2018 season was Saffold, who finished the year with a run-blocking grade of 72.8, ranking fourth out of 88 qualifying guards. Saffold held his own when pass-blocking as well, as he allowed only 25 total pressures (17 hurries, five hits, three sacks) on 608 pass-blocking snaps. In the Rams’ pursuit to get back to the Super Bowl, keeping Saffold would be a huge move.
