After a hot start to the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars have come crashing down to earth.
The Jags' third straight loss was sealed when Colts WR Alec Pierce housed a go-ahead 32-yard score with 23 seconds remaining. It was the most impressive the Indianapolis offense has looked this season, as it has started turning things around of late.
Offensive spotlight: Welcome back, Matt Ryan! Colts fans saw the former MVP quarterback they thought they were getting this offseason. He finished 42-of-58 for 392 yards and three scores. He made only his second big-time throw of the season when it mattered most.
Defensive spotlight: It was a roller coaster game for last year’s big-money free agent signing Shaquill Griffin. While he finished with three forced incompletions, Griffin also allowed nine catches from 13 targets for 131 yards, and he committed two penalties in the process.
Rookie spotlight: The Jaguars' first-round duo from last April looked like…well..rookies. Edge defender Travon Walker committed a drive-extending roughing the passer penalty and was otherwise quiet rushing Matt Ryan on the day. Linebacker Devin Lloyd’s struggles came in coverage, where he allowed 10 catches from 11 targets for 83 yards and a score on the day.
Offensive line spotlight: The Jaguars may have come away with an L, but the play of their offensive line was still encouraging. Their starting five combined to allow only three pressures on 28 pass-blocking snaps.
