- The Eagles take the No. 1 spot after the Ravens‘ loss: Philadelphia survived a tough Cowboys team, whereas Baltimore couldn't hold on against a scary Bills offense.
- The Giants already have questions to answer: Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is waiting in the wings, and if the offense's woes last much longer, he may be called into action earlier than expected.

These Week 2 NFL power rankings offer a comprehensive view of team standings and future prospects. All of the information below and more can be found in the PFF Power Rankings tool, which is available with a PFF+ subscription.
It’s important to note that these rankings consider more than just win-loss records and playoff seeding. Factors such as player- and team-level grades, offensive and defensive efficiency and strength of schedule play a role. This is why teams with worse records and slimmer playoff hopes may rank higher than those with better records who have managed wins against weaker opponents or delivered inconsistent performances.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (Up 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 79%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 10%
The Eagles survived a tough Week 1 battle against a game Dallas Cowboys team and a long weather delay. It wasn’t always pretty, and the passing attack lacked some punch, but Jalen Hurts’ ability to scramble and make plays with his legs carried the team to a 24-20 win, with the Super Bowl MVP earning an 88.0 PFF overall grade. The road back to the Super Bowl starts at 1-0.
2. Baltimore Ravens (Down 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 78%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 12%
The Ravens are the best team in the NFL until they need to be. That’s the general feeling after they were on the wrong side of a Week 1 classic against the Buffalo Bills. The rushing attack picked up where it left off in 2024, tallying 238 yards, but questions will be asked about a secondary that allowed 11 explosive passing plays. Regardless, expectations remain high for the Ravens.
3. Buffalo Bills (No change)
- Chance of making playoffs: 91%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 14%
You’d be forgiven for calling it curtains for the Bills after Derrick Henry scored his second touchdown of the game to put the Ravens 40-25 up with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game. But, behind an excellent Josh Allen performance, Buffalo rallied to score 16 points in the final four minutes of the game, including a game-winning field goal as time expired. Allen earned an 87.0 PFF overall grade, sparked by 394 passing yards and five total touchdowns, and the Bills are, somehow, off to a winning start.
4. Green Bay Packers (Up 2)
- Chance of making playoffs: 77%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 8%
The Packers looked every bit like a team projected to take the next step in 2025 in their 27-13 win against the Lions. The offense, led by Jordan Love, was explosive, while the defense locked up one of the NFL's best attacks. It’s only Week 1, but Green Bay is fielding top-10 units in EPA per play on offense and defense.
5. Kansas City Chiefs (Down 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 61%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 6%
The Chiefs' defense allowed more than 300 passing yards in a game just twice in 2024, and the group kicked off the 2025 season by surrendering 304 passing yards to the Chargers in a 27-21 loss.
Come the end of the season, that performance will likely say more about the Chargers' offense than the Chiefs' defense, but the unit will have to rebound in Week 2 against the Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch. Patrick Mahomes, who earned a 79.0 PFF overall grade and made three big-time throws against Los Angeles, will need to be at his best for an offense that, once again, lacked an element of explosiveness.
6. Detroit Lions (Down 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 48%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 4%
For those who had concerns after the Lions lost Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn to head-coaching roles in free agency, there will be a certain amount of vindication following the team's Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Lions were down 27-6 until a late Isaac TeSlaa touchdown made the scoreline look a touch better, at 27-13.
The main story is that Detroit showed some early rust on both sides of the ball, and Jared Goff’s 45.5 PFF overall grade was the second-lowest mark among quarterbacks in Week 1. Will that prove to be a bug or a feature for the rest of the way?
7. Washington Commanders (No change)
- Chance of making playoffs: 59%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 4%
The Giants weren't expected to pose a serious threat to a Commanders team with Super Bowl aspirations in 2025, and Washington's 21-6 win reflected that, with both the offense and defense showing up in Week 1.
Second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels had a solid performance, if not too flashy, earning him an 83.9 PFF overall grade. He completed 63.3% of his passes for 233 yards and a touchdown. A tough Thursday night matchup in Green Bay awaits.
8. Los Angeles Rams (Up 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 64%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 4%
For all of the talk regarding Matthew Stafford’s back, there was little to no cause for concern in the Rams' Week 1 win against the Houston Texans. Stafford was at his best, slinging the ball around on his way to a position-high 92.9 PFF overall grade. He completed 72.4% of his passes for 245 yards and a touchdown. No quarterback topped Stafford’s five big-time throws in Week 1.
9. Los Angeles Chargers (Up 3)
- Chance of making playoffs: 67%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 5%
The Chargers opened up their 2025 account with an excellent Week 1 win in Brazil against the Chiefs — the first time they’ve beaten their AFC West foes since Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season. The driving force was Justin Herbert, who earned an 84.0 PFF overall grade and tossed three touchdowns. Could this be the season the Chargers start to put it all together?
10. San Francisco 49ers (Up 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 72%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 4%
It wasn’t a pretty Week 1 win, but beating your rival on the road is always a cause for celebration. The 49ers are looking to put a tough 2024 season firmly in the rearview mirror, and they kicked things off with a 17-13 win in Seattle. George Kittle‘s hamstring injury brings some obvious concern, but Jake Tonges stepped to the plate in his absence, catching three passes for 15 yards and a touchdown en route to an 84.5 PFF overall grade.
11. Minnesota Vikings (Down 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 51%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%
The Vikings rallied from 11 points down to turn the tide in Week 1, scoring 21 fourth-quarter points to beat the Chicago Bears on the road. It wasn’t a perfect first career start for J.J. McCarthy, who earned a 63.3 PFF overall grade, but he did enough, along with an excellent performance from the defense, to put the Vikings in a position to win the game.
12. Denver Broncos (Up 2)
- Chance of making playoffs: 54%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 4%
The Broncos started the season with a 20-12 victory against the Titans. Getting one in the win column is the main priority, but the passing game did not look like a unit set to take the next step. It’s still early days, though, even if Bo Nix earned a poor 40.5 PFF overall grade. The defense still looks like one of the best in the NFL.
13. Cincinnati Bengals (Down 5)
- Chance of making playoffs: 56%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 4%
The Bengals totaled just 141 yards in a 17-16 win over the Browns, and they were held to a measly seven yards in the second half. That's a disappointing output for what is supposed to be one of the NFL's best offenses. However, star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson recorded eight pressures and a sack in the win, earning an 88.1 PFF overall grade. The Bengals will be delighted to have him back.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Up 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 72%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%
In a topsy-turvy Week 1 game for the Buccaneers, Baker Mayfield threw three touchdowns — two of which were to first-round rookie Emeka Egbuka, who caught four passes for 67 yards in his NFL debut en route to a 69.8 PFF overall grade. Tampa Bay's offense looked rusty, with yet another new offensive coordinator, but securing the win assuaged those early concerns.
15. Houston Texans (Down 2)
- Chance of making playoffs: 41%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%
The Texans were one of two teams not to score a touchdown in Week 1, but there were positives to take away from the 14-9 loss to the Rams. C.J. Stroud looked more like the quarterback we know, earning a 73.1 PFF overall grade, and the defensive front, led by Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, is going to be a terrifying proposition for quarterbacks every week.
16. Pittsburgh Steelers (No change)
- Chance of making playoffs: 46%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%
What a Week 1 for the Steelers, who scored more than 30 points on offense — something that has seemed almost impossible for the team in recent seasons — and picked up a win. Pittsburgh went all in this offseason, and one of the team's big acquisitions, cornerback Jalen Ramsey, came up with the game-sealing play and earned an 87.5 PFF coverage grade.
17. Arizona Cardinals (No change)
- Chance of making playoffs: 47%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%
The Cardinals entered Week 1 with a sneakily tough task of beating a Saints team that will be vying for the No. 1 pick come the end of the season. Arizona got past the trap game thanks to a strong defensive performance, and cornerback Will Johnson, a 2025 second-round pick, earned a 90.2 PFF overall grade in his NFL debut.
18. Chicago Bears (No change)
- Chance of making playoffs: 20%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%
The Bears had real control of their Week 1 game against the Vikings until they didn’t. The offense struggled to put the contest to bed, even if Caleb Williams earned a 77.1 PFF overall grade, and the defense allowed 21 points in the fourth quarter in an eventual 27-24 divisional loss against the Vikings.
19. Indianapolis Colts (Up 5)
- Chance of making playoffs: 47%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%
The Colts delivered one of the top performances of the week in a 33-8 thrashing of the Dolphins, and Daniel Jones enjoyed a strong first start with the team (72.8 PFF overall grade). Can it continue? Who knows, but the Colts will be riding a good wave of momentum into their Week 2 matchup against the Broncos.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars (Up 3)
- Chance of making playoffs: 44%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%
The Liam Coen effect was instant for the Jaguars, who rushed for 200 yards in their Week 1 win against the Carolina Panthers. In the past, Jacksonville may well have lost that game after a long weather delay, but the offense kept churning to get the win, even if the passing game looked a little hit-and-miss. It can’t all happen at once, but the offense's 70.7 PFF grade ranked 11th in Week 1.
21. Seattle Seahawks (Down 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 26%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%
It was a mixed Week 1 performance for the Seahawks. Sam Darnold earned a strong 82.6 PFF overall grade and looked to have an early connection with Jaxon Smith-Njigba that’ll serve the offense well, but outside of that, the rushing game looked stifled and the rest of the pass catchers barely got a look. While Seattle's offense will likely become a more rounded unit as the year goes on, the 17-13 loss to the 49ers feels like a game that got away from them.
22. Las Vegas Raiders (Up 4)
- Chance of making playoffs: 35%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%
This iteration of the Raiders already feels different with Pete Carroll as the head coach and Geno Smith at quarterback. Smith earned an 83.8 PFF overall grade in his first game with the franchise, completing 70.6% of his passes for 362 yards, a touchdown and an interception to lead Las Vegas to a 20-13 Week 1 win against the Patriots. The road to the playoffs will be tough in the AFC West, but this team could have the talent to surprise.
23. Dallas Cowboys (Down 4)
- Chance of making playoffs: 21%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%
The Cowboys likely surprised many people with how well they played against the defending Super Bowl champions on Thursday night. Dak Prescott reminded everyone that he’s still a top-10 quarterback when he’s firing, and his 90.0 PFF overall grade placed second best among quarterbacks in Week 1. The defense, without Micah Parsons, still played with a lot of fire, too, even if the unit's ceiling is significantly lower without him. There’s still plenty of reason for optimism in Dallas.
24. Atlanta Falcons (Down 2)
- Chance of making playoffs: 32%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%
The Michael Penix Jr. era started with a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers, but the second-year quarterback looked the part on opening day, earning a 68.9 PFF overall grade while throwing for 298 yards. Atlanta's rushing attack was uncharacteristically ineffective, but the Buccaneers also boast a strong run-defense unit.
25. Miami Dolphins (Down 4)
- Chance of making playoffs: 23%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%
No team looked more out of its depth in Week 1 than the Miami Dolphins, who suffered a 33-8 blowout loss at the hands of the Daniel Jones-led Indianapolis Colts. All of the talk in the offseason was that this was a make-or-break year for the Dolphins, and though it’s only Week 1, alarm bells will be ringing. Most of all, Tua Tagovailoa struggled, recording four turnover-worthy plays. The Dolphins will need their franchise quarterback to be at his best if they’re to stand a chance.
26. New England Patriots (Down 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 23%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%
A Week 1 loss to the Raiders isn’t the end of the world for the Patriots. Their aspirations in 2025 don’t solely rest on what happens in the first game of the season, especially with a lot of turnover on the roster. But if the playoffs are the goal for this young team, they’ll need to keep Drake Maye upright. He was sacked four times in the 20-13 loss, yet he still earned a decent 69.3 PFF overall grade in the first game of his sophomore season.
27. New York Jets (Up 2)
- Chance of making playoffs: 14%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
The Jets might have lost a close game to the Steelers in Week 1, but the sweetness of the moral victory should taste good. The team's offense earned a 79.6 PFF overall grade, the highest among all offenses in the NFL. The next step is turning the moral victories into real ones, and that starts against the Bills in Week 2.
28. New York Giants (No change)
- Chance of making playoffs: 8%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
The optics aren’t great when head coach Brian Daboll is already having to tell reporters that Russell Wilson will be his team's Week 2 starting quarterback. The Giants' offense struggled in the Week 1 loss to the Commanders, placing 28th in EPA per play. The Jaxson Dart timer is set and counting down.
29. Cleveland Browns (Up 2)
- Chance of making playoffs: 8%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
The Browns are going to feel hard done by after their 17-16 Week 1 loss to the Bengals. They made life incredibly hard for one of the best offenses in the NFL for 60 minutes, while their own offense did enough to give the team a chance. Cleveland was a missed field goal away from starting the season 1-0.
30. Carolina Panthers (Down 3)
- Chance of making playoffs: 16%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
After all of the offseason praise for the Panthers and Bryce Young, the team's Week 1 loss to the Jaguars was a wake-up call. Young played tremendously down the stretch in 2024, but 2025 is a new season, and with that comes new expectations — and new problems. Young did earn a 71.1 PFF overall grade, 14th best among quarterbacks, in Week 1, though, and there’s a lot of football left to play.
31. Tennessee Titans (Down 1)
- Chance of making playoffs: 13%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
All eyes were on No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward in Week 1, and the rookie showed a lot of promise, even if he earned a 57.4 PFF overall grade in his first career start. The Titans lost 20-12 to a Broncos team with high expectations in 2025, but the defense held its own, placing seventh in EPA allowed per play after Week 1.
32. New Orleans Saints (No change)
- Chance of making playoffs: 7%
- Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
Like the Browns, the Saints have muted expectations in 2025, but they absolutely played their role in Week 1 — even in a losing effort to the Cardinals. The road ahead looks bumpy, but there were positives. Veteran linebacker Demario Davis earned a 90.7 PFF overall grade in the loss, still playing at an elite level at 36 years old.
