Despite being kicked out of postseason contention earlier in the day, the Detroit Lions fought and played spoiler for the Green Bay Packers‘ playoff hopes, as they went into Lambeau and won 20-16 in Week 18.
Offensive Spotlight: Lions running back Jamaal Williams ran for two touchdowns to break Barry Sanders’ longstanding single-season rushing touchdown record.
Both of Williams’ touchdowns came from the one-yard line. His 10 rushing touchdowns from inside the one are the second-most PFF has on record (since 2006), behind only LeGarrette Blount in 2016.
Defensive Spotlight: Interior defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was a secret superstar in this contest. He totaled seven tackles (including five defensive stops) on 22 run snaps.
Rookie Spotlight: Second overall pick Aidan Hutchinson nabbed two sacks on Sunday night for the Lions, bringing his season total to 9.5. He also won 19% of his reps against the Packers. Hutchinson will finish his rookie campaign with 53 total pressures, the most of all first-year pass-rushers.
Offensive Line Spotlight: Second-year Lions tackle Penei Sewell made waves with his key pancake block on the hook-and-ladder play late in the fourth quarter as Detroit drove to put Green Bay away, but he was stout all night long at right tackle. He didn’t allow a single pressure on the night.
