Patrick Mahomes started the game off with a bang as he dropped a beautifully placed post-corner pass into Tyreek Hill between the safety and the cornerback for a 41-yard touchdown. Mahomes was accurate throughout the day even though it was snowing heavily. He did throw an interception, but that was due to misreading the defenders and not an inaccurate pass.
Hill followed up his 41-yard touchdown in the first quarter by catching a second touchdown in the third quarter on a quick out-breaking whip route from the 5-yard line. Travis Kelce led the team in catches and yards.
Defensive lineman Chris Jones had a great day as a pass-rusher as the Kansas City defense continued to play well after a rocky start to the season. He had a number of quick pass rush wins against Denver's guards.
Tyrann Mathieu had a good day in coverage, making a number of plays on the ball, including an interception on a poor decision from Drew Lock that got called back due to a holding penalty away from the play.
Drew Lock was atrocious Sunday, as he routinely made terrible decision after terrible decision and missed throw after throw. It was quite the letdown game coming off a solid outing for him in Week 14. One of his lowlights of the day came on a throw off of his back foot where he lobbed the ball up straight to a defender.
Outside of a few quick pass-rush wins by Frank Clark and Chris Jones, Denver's offensive line actually held up better than expected in pass protection, giving Lock all the time he needed to make an inaccurate throw.
Von Miller got a clean-up sack on Patrick Mahomes as he fled the pocket early in the second quarter. Miller was productive throughout the game as he generated multiple pressures (including a QB hit) and he also had a tackle for a loss as a run defender.
Shelby Harris had a second-quarter sack of Patrick Mahomes after beating Andrew Wylie outside. Harris added a second sack of Mahomes in the second quarter as he corralled the quarterback as he tried to leave the pocket. Justin Simmons made an impressive sliding interception of Mahomes in the red zone as he ran in front of Tyreek Hill for the pick.
