In a battle between the 2022 NFL Draft’s Mr. Irrelevant and the greatest quarterback of all time, David took down Goliath once again.

Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers curbstomped Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 35-7. With the win, the 49ers improve to 9-4 and stay atop the NFC West. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers fall to 6-7 but still, somehow, lead the NFC South.

Offensive spotlight: Christian McCaffrey has dominated since he was traded to the 49ers. The former Carolina Panther ran for 119 yards and a touchdown against the Buccaneers, with 71 yards coming after contact.

It wouldn’t be a CMC masterclass without some receiving production, too, and he caught two passes for 34 yards and a touchdown.

Defensive spotlight: Fred Warner gets all the love in the 49ers linebacking corps, and deservedly so, but Dre Greenlaw was the star on Sunday. Greenlaw earned a 90.5 grade on first review, which would be the second-highest of his four-year career. He picked off Brady in the third quarter and allowed a 5.7 passer rating when targeted.

Rookie spotlight: Purdy balled out in his first career start. The final pick of the 2022 draft finished with an astounding 134.0 passer rating against the Buccaneers after completing 76% of his passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns. The Iowa State product also added a score on the ground.

Offensive line spotlight: Trent Williams continues to further his case as not only the best offensive tackle in the league but one of the greatest offensive tackles of all time.

Williams finished with an 89.0 grade on first review, with an elite 91.1 run-blocking grade. He also allowed only one pressure on 22 pass-blocking snaps.

Williams is now the highest-graded player in the league. This comes after his 96.6 grade last season, which is the highest single-season grade PFF has seen since we began in 2006. Since then, his career grade is tied for the highest we’ve ever seen from an offensive tackle.

Highest-graded offensive tackles in the PFF era (Since 2006)
