NFL Week 13 Game Recap: Cincinnati Bengals 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 31

Jake Browning and the Cincinnati Bengals marched into EverBank Stadium on Monday night and handed the Jacksonville Jaguars their fourth — and probably most unexpected — loss of the year.

It was a closely fought battle all night, and we needed overtime to get a final result. In the end, the Bengals defense was able to stop the Jaguars' first possession in the extra period, allowing Browning and the offense to move the ball into game-winning field goal range.

The Bengals improve to 6-6. The Jaguars drop to 8-4 and into the fourth seed in the AFC. However, that's probably the least of Jacksonville's worries tonight, as starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence left the game midway through the second half with what looked like a serious — potentially season-threatening — ankle injury.

Offensive spotlight: Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning did everything his team needed him to do and more in just his second NFL start, finishing the game 32-of-37 for 354 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. That stat line could have been even better, too, as two of those incompletions were due to drops by his receivers.

Browning posted just a 3.8-yard average depth of target but averaged 9.6 yards per attempt, with 64.7% of his passing yards coming after the catch. He recorded one big-time throw and no turnover-worthy plays on first review.

Defensive spotlight: Bengals defensive lineman DJ Reader was a real handful for the Jaguars' offensive line, as the veteran recorded five quarterback hurries from 26 snaps as a pass-rusher. Reader added two tackles for loss against the run to cap off a solid all-around performance.

Rookie spotlight: Anton Harrison‘s performance will be one of the few positives the Jaguars will take away from this game, as the first-year tackle allowed just one pressure — a quarterback hurry — across 46 pass-blocking snaps on first review.
