NFL Preseason Week 3 Game Recap: Pittsburgh Steelers 19, Carolina Panthers 10

Pittsburgh closed out its preseason slate with a 19-10 win over Carolina, powered by efficient quarterback play and a perfect night from rookie kicker Ben Sauls. But the biggest headline from the night wasn’t about production — it was about availability.

First-round pick Derrick Harmon went down early with a non-contact knee injury and didn’t return, casting immediate doubt over his status for the regular season. The 21st overall pick had flashed promise throughout camp, and his absence would leave a significant hole on the Steelers’ defensive front.

Skylar Thompson was sharp in relief of Mason Rudolph, completing 11 of his 13 passes and delivering the night’s first touchdown throw — a 24-yard strike to Lance McCutcheon. He also connected deep with Scotty Miller, who led all players in receiving yards (82).

Carolina, meanwhile, rested nearly all key contributors.

PFF's dedicated team of graders was hard at work, analyzing every player on every play in real time. The comprehensive grades and data will be available after a thorough review tomorrow at 12 p.m. EST.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Scott Miller made the most of his limited opportunities, turning all three of his targets into chain-moving plays and racking up 82 yards in the process. Two of those receptions went for 15-plus yards, and he averaged a staggering 24.3-yard average depth of target.
