Undrafted rookie cornerback Eric Rogers stole the show at SoFi Stadium.
The Rutgers product snagged two interceptions for the Los Angeles Chargers, one a pick-six, and didn't surrender a single catch on five targets into his coverage. He is likely on track to earn one of the highest PFF coverage grades of the 2025 NFL preseason.
Both of the picks ultimately led to touchdowns, and that was the difference in the Chargers' 27-13 win over the New Orleans Saints to close out preseason Week 1.
The Saints' quarterback battle entered the spotlight for the first time this preseason, with Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough each looking to state their case.
Shough was on the wrong end of Rogers' pick-six but did drop a perfect pass into Mason Tipton's waiting arms for a 54-yard score. While Rattler stayed clean in the turnover department, he averaged more than 3 seconds to throw and took several sacks.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Who else but Eric Rogers? He became only the second cornerback since 2023 to see more than five targets in a preseason game and not allow a reception. And not only did he keep the ball out of receivers' hands, but he made two catches of his own — both impressive displays of reading the quarterback's eyes.
Rogers is on track to earn one of the highest PFF coverage grades in a preseason game in several years, should his mark hold up after final reviews. He exited late in the game with an unspecified injury and was seen on crutches in the locker room.
