Second-year Chicago Bears edge defender Austin Booker, with two sacks to his name already, was hungry for more. Late in the third quarter, he effortlessly deposited 300-pound left tackle Kion Smith into the ground and set his sights on Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers.
As Ewers caught a glimpse of Booker's shadow bearing down on his blind side, he tried to dart to his right. Booker wasn't having it. He chased down Ewers and poked the ball out — a technically sound strip — for his third sack of the day.
Booker bullied the Dolphins' line in extended action, keeping the Bears in the game before it ended in an eventual 24-24 tie in preseason Week 1. The Chicago Bears held out Caleb Williams, whereas the Miami Dolphins opted to give Tua Tagovailoa one drive.
Tagovailoa marched Miami down the field on a 15-play, short-pass-heavy drive, although the series stalled after four straight runs failed to cross into the endzone.
Luther Burden III caught his first two passes in the NFL, one of which moved the chains on third-and-15. Later in the game, the Dolphins handed the offensive reins to Ewers and running back Ollie Gordon, who notched his first touchdown.
