We know that quarterback is the most important position on the field, but a great pass rush is the ultimate equalizer. Pressure disrupts timing, rhythm and accuracy, something only the elite quarterbacks can consistently overcome.
Last season, 13 of the top 15 teams in PFF pass-rush grade had a winning record. In 2023, 15 of the top 16 teams in PFF pass-rush grade had a winning record. A dominant pass-rush is undeniably crucial to a team’s success over the course of the season.
Each week this season, after every NFL game was graded and reviewed, we checked in on the top pass rushers. The rankings changed drastically early in the campaign, as one sack, hit or pressure can significantly can easily alter a player's grade when the sample size is small. But as snap counts rose, the grades stabilized and we got a clearer picture of the league's best pass rushers.

Best Pass Rusher: Myles Garrett, Cleveland Browns
Garrett capped one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen from a defensive player with a record-breaking 23rd sack in the final minutes of Week 18. He was yet again the league’s best pass rusher in 2025, leading the NFL in PFF pass-rush grade (93.3), marking his seventh straight season with a grade higher than 90.0.
Garrett’s pass-rush win rate (24.6%) trailed only Will Anderson Jr. (26.2%), and his 84 pressures ranked fourth in the league. Remarkably, he did all of that as the only edge defender who was double-teamed more than 50% of the time and chipped more than 20% of the time.
There is little doubt that Garrett will earn All-Pro honors for the seventh time and become a two-time Defensive Player of the Year as he continues to add to his Hall-of-Fame resume.
Most Pressures: Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions
Hutchinson returned to All-Pro form this year after having his 2024 season cut short after six dominant weeks by a fractured tibia and fibula, leading the NFL with 100 pressures without missing a game. A player has generated 100-plus pressures only six times in the PFF era, two of which are Hutchinson (2023 and 2025).
Highest Win Rate: Will Anderson Jr., Houston Texans
Anderson established himself as one of the league’s elite pass rushers in 2025. The third-year pro led the NFL in pass-rush win rate (26.2%) and was one of just five players (Myles Garrett, Aidan Hutchinson, Micah Parsons and Danielle Hunter) who logged a win rate higher than 20.0% this season.
Best Rookie Pass Rusher: Abdul Carter, New York Giants
Carter was in a tier of his own this season among his rookie peers, leading the way in PFF pass-rush grade (84.5), pressures (66) and win rate (14.7%). The third overall pick in this year’s draft got stronger as the year went on, as his 90.1 PFF pass-rush grade from Weeks 13-18 tied him with Myles Garrett for the second-highest mark in the NFL, behind only Chris Jones.
Week 18 Highlights
Best Pass Rusher: Myles Garrett, Cleveland Browns
In Week 17 against the Steelers, Garrett was chipped on 52% of his snaps and double-teamed 64% of the time, making him the only player in the league who was above 37.5% in both categories. Ultimately, it was the first game since Week 6 (also against Pittsburgh) where Garrett didn’t record at least half a sack.
Garrett was back to his dominant ways in Week 18, leading all players in PFF pass-rush grade (91.2). His nine pressures were tied for the most of the week, none more memorable than his fourth-quarter sack of Joe Burrow, which broke the NFL record for sacks in a season (23).
Most Pressures: Myles Garrett, Cleveland Browns; Chase Young, New Orleans Saints; Josh Hines-Allen, Jacksonville Jaguars
Garrett, Young and Hines-Allen each notched a league-high nine pressures in Week 18. For Garrett, it was his second-best output this season (11 in Week 12 against the Raiders). Young’s eight pressures in Week 17 were the most in the NFL, so it’s the second straight week he’s recognized here to close out the season. Hines-Allen’s nine pressures were his second most recorded this season, as he racked up 11 in Week 12.
Highest Win Rate: Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions
Hutchinson's 37.0% pass-rush win rate led all pass rushers in Week 18 as the Lions ended the year on a high note with a road victory over the Bears.
Best Rookie Pass Rusher: Abdul Carter, New York Giants
Carter was not only the best rookie pass rusher over the last month of the regular season, but he was also one of the best pass rushers in the league overall. His 86.2 PFF pass-rush grade and five pressures in Week 18 led all rookies.
