The Las Vegas Raiders are adding much-needed firepower to their offense by signing free-agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
Jackson texted Josina Anderson of USA Today and CBS Sports HQ that he was signing with the Raiders after Las Vegas lost to the New York Giants, 23-16, in Week 9.

Jackson was waived by the Los Angeles Rams after Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline and went unclaimed. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr struggled Sunday in the loss to the Giants, going 30-of-46 for 296 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Las Vegas waived wide receiver Henry Ruggs III this week after he was charged with a DUI resulting in the death of a 23-year-old woman. Ruggs is accused of driving 156 mph with a blood alcohol level of .161, which is more than twice the legal limit, before crashing into the car of the woman, who died in the accident. In addition to the DUI resulting in death, Ruggs has been charged with DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and two counts of reckless driving — all felonies — and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a gun under the influence of alcohol.
The Raiders started wide receivers Bryan Edwards, Zay Jones and Hunter Renfrow in their Week 9 loss to the Giants. Jackson now has a chance to take over one of those starting roles after signing with the team.
