Grading all 32 first-round rookies after Week 3

  • Emeka Egbuka is an early weapon for the Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield continues to trust the rookie, who turned six catches into 85 yards and an 81.8 PFF receiving grade in Week 3.
  • Jihaad Campbell is blossoming in Philadelphia: He racked up eight total tackles and logged a pressure as a blitzer. Campbell and Zack Baun are quickly becoming one of the NFL’s premier linebacker duos.

Estimated Reading Time: 15 minutes

Week 3 is in the books, and several of the NFL’s first-round rookies made their impact felt throughout the league. That said, we once again break down their grades, performances, and principal opponents as they progress through their debut seasons.

Pick No. 1: Tennessee Titans: QB Cam Ward

  • Overall Rookie Grade: 58.4 (Rank: 1/1)
  • Principal Opponent: N/A
  • Week 3 Snaps: 70
  • Week 3 Grade: 50.7

Ward threw an interception on his second pass attempt in Week 3, and Kenny Moore II returned it for a touchdown. He did recover to make some nice throws down the middle of the field, including his second career touchdown, but the Titans couldn’t keep up with the Colts’ torrid offensive pace. Ward now owns a 56.9 PFF passing grade through the season’s first three weeks.

Pick No. 2: Jacksonville Jaguars: WR/CB Travis Hunter

  • Overall Rookie Grade (Offense): 55.0 (Rank: 8/10)
  • Principal Opponent (Offense): Henry To'oTo'o
  • Week 3 Offense Snaps: 37
  • Week 3 Offense Grade: 62.8
  • Overall Rookie Grade (Defense): 68.2 (Rank: 3/10)
  • Principal Opponent (Defense): Nico Collins
  • Week 3 Defense Snaps: 43
  • Week 3 Defense Grade: 61.3

Hunter played 80 snaps this week, with a nearly equal distribution on offense and defense. His defensive performance stood out a bit more — he racked up six tackles and a stop but gave up four receptions totaling 48 yards. Hunter reeled in just one pass on offense. On that first-and-20 play, he made two defenders miss while picking up 21 yards.

Hunter has so far proven durable with his two-way workload, but he hasn’t made a significant impact on either side of the ball.
