Fantasy Football: Week 12 IDP Report

  • Quinnen Williams looks revitalized in Dallas: No player has delivered more total pressures over the last two weeks than Williams since joining his new team, and while he had a quiet IDP performance this week, he’s in line for better production ahead.
  • Sorting out the Chicago Bears linebacker mess: With three starters out this week and injuries occurring during this week’s game, there was plenty to sort through for IDP managers to find the right replacements.

Week 12 takeaways

Waiver wire

  • LB Shaq Thompson, Buffalo Bills: Thompson stepped into Terrel Bernard’s role once he left, playing 100% of the defensive snaps the rest of the way. He should continue to be the team’s lone every-down linebacker with Bernard likely out for a while.
  • LB Krys Barnes, Carolina Panthers: Barnes played 100% of defensive snaps once Cherelus left the game, and if all three of Trevin Wallace, Christian Rozeboom, and Claudin Cherelus are unable to go for Week 13, then Barnes will have IDP fill-in value. Bam Martin-Scott was the LB2 once Cherelus left the game and would be a deep-league option assuming all three other starters are out.
  • LB D’Marco Jackson, Chicago Bears: Jackson was the lone full-time linebacker and the clear top option if either Edwards or Sewell is going to miss any more time. Ruben Hyppolite was the LB2 this past week, though he didn’t play a full-time role and then suffered an injury. Hyppolite will only be a deep-league option if both Edwards and Sewell miss another game. If Hyppolite also misses next week, then Amen Ogbongbemiga would be the deep-league option.
  • LB Zaire Barnes, New York Giants: Barnes replaced the injured Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, playing 65% of the snaps the rest of the way in this game. Barnes will be a deep-league option, only if both Flannigan-Fowles and Darius Muasau are out in Week 13.
  • S Sydney Brown, Philadelphia Eagles: Reed Blankenship left for a bit but was able to return and finish the game. Andrew Mukuba also appeared to get hurt late in the fourth quarter, so Brown will potentially be a waiver-wire replacement option if either Blankenship or Mukuba is unavailable on a short week.

  • Rookie watch: Walter Nolen suffered an injury early in this game and did not return, although he did deliver a defensive touchdown prior to exiting. It’s unclear how long Nolen will be out, if he misses any time at all, but his production on just over 100 defensive snaps so far this season is encouraging for his long-term potential.

  • Point of interest: The Cardinals' safeties delivered in a big way thanks to their ideal matchup, both landing a sack while tying for the team lead in total tackles (nine). Jalen Thompson added a forced fumble to his total, while Budda Baker came up with his first interception of the year to boost his performance.

  • Rookie watch: James Pearce Jr. now has a three-game sack streak going right now as he delivered 1.5 this week, while fellow rookie teammate, Jalon Walker, added one more to his season total this year. Both players are beginning to emerge as IDP managers (and the Falcons) would expect from first-round edge defenders in the second half of the season.

  • Point of interest: Second-year defensive tackle Brandon Dorlus now has 4.5 sacks over his last four games, delivering 1.5 this week. Dorlus is getting fine usage, totaling slightly below average pass-rush metrics on the year, so DT-required IDP managers shouldn’t expect this production to be sustainable for the rest of the season, but he could be a fine matchup-based option as needed.

JD Bertrand1.3%1.7%0.0%0
  • Point of interest: Divine Deablo returned to the lineup after his four-game stint on injured reserve. Deablo immediately went back to his full-time role next to Kaden Elliss and will be a startable IDP option once again going forward.
  • Droppable: With Deablo’s return to the lineup, Ronnie Harrison’s snaps dipped right back down to an unusable snap share for IDP. He can be safely dropped in all formats.
