It’s that time of the week against when we scour the waiver wire for the top IDP prospects and now with five weeks of football in the rear-view mirror, the game data is piling up giving us a few more angles to find our future starters.

Defensive linemen

(A note to start us off: Melvin Ingram took a carry as a fullback for the Chargers on the 1-yard line this week. If this turns out to be more than just a one-off, Ingram enters the conversation to be the top fantasy defensive lineman.)

Jerry Hughes, Buffalo Bills

The last three seasons have seen Hughes’ sack upside erode, averaging just five a season, but he’s having a resurgence under Sean McDermott’s new regime and a switch back to a 4-3 defense. Hughes has three sacks through the first five weeks, but most impressively ranks fourth in our pass-rush productivity rankings (min. 50% of pass-rushes) thanks to an additional five hits and 17 hurries.
