A week removed from an IDP waiver wire column where the recommendations jumped off the page, this week it’s a lot tougher to radiate the same level of confidence about the selections. Hopefully you’ve cashed in on some strong recommendations over the last few weeks as you refine your roster before the fantasy playoffs, but if not, lets run through this week’s top pickups.
Defensive linemen
Trey Flowers, New England Patriots
It’s been a middling year for Flowers, a player the Patriots would have wanted to kick on entering his third season as a pro, but he has flashed some signs of being the disruptive pass-rusher New England need in recent weeks. Over the last two games, Flowers has chalked up eight total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a force fumble, and since Week 9 he has ranked fifth among 4-3 ends in our pass-rush productivity rankings. Last week saw Flowers have his best game of the season, but he picked up a rib injury on a sack late in the third quarter, and although he did return to the game he was eventually shut down and headed to the locker room. His status for Week 13 is listed as questionable, but I’ve never found the Patriots to be the most accurate with their injury designations, so I’d lean toward Flowers being active, but keep an eye on his usage in practice this week.
