Saving the cash. It’s important, but taking in one of your roster spots can trash a lineup.
You can’t whiff at quarterback. Signal-callers score too many points in DFS formats, so catching up when you blow it up top is difficult. Tight ends are frustrating, especially when you’re looking for a bargain. I usually spend a couple extra dollars at that position because the cheaper options are maddening.
But you need to decide your own threshold for risk. And you need determine if you’re playing it safe in cash games or swinging for the fences in GPP tournaments.
Either way, these are some low priced options that are sure to make your weekend.
Quarterbacks
Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars (at Detroit)
FanDuel: $7,200 (18th)
DraftKings: $5,400 (20th)
Yahoo: $32 (10th, tied)
I’ve been sleeping on Blake Bortles as a DFS option because I actually watch the games and understand the game of football. Nonetheless, he continues to put up fantasy points. He’s a garbage-time champion, and those points count. Yeah, some of his targets will bounce off of other player’s feet, but he’s averaging 269 passing yards per game and has scored eight touchdowns in his last four games. This week he faces the Detroit Lions, who give up an average of 272.1 passing yards and 2.2 passing touchdowns per game. He will probably have another great fantasy day. My advice: don’t watch the game.
