It wasn’t a great week to stream defenses in Week 2, as five of the top six scoring defenses were owned on 80 percent of teams. The only team that didn’t fit that criteria was the New York Giants, who were at home against Drew Brees. If you thought it was a good idea to play them, reach out to me, because you must have a crystal ball.
Week 3 doesn’t look much better for the lesser-owned defenses, but we need to find the best defense available in at least 40 percent of leagues. The idea is to avoid giving you the defenses that people will not drop, like Seattle, Carolina, Houston, Arizona, Denver, etc. We will also consider the defenses who might have been dropped because of a bad matchup the prior week.
Cincinnati Bengals (vs. Denver)
I was surprised to see the Bengals sitting there at less than 60 percent owned, but they fall into the area where they may have been dropped due to their matchup against the Steelers in Week 2. They didn’t only lose pieces on their offense this offseason, but they also lost their slot cornerback Leon Hall, and have been missing suspended Vontae Burfict the last two games. That suspension will last one more game, but against the Broncos, they shouldn’t really need him.
