Welcome to Week 5 of the NFL season. The fog of war should have cleared in your league by now, and not only should you have a good idea of how competitive your roster is going to be, but we also have more data on matchups and tackle projections, etc., to guide our decisions on a Sunday morning. This week’s IDP start/sit will be taking that matchup data and picking out my preferred plays. As always, I’d highly recommend having a look at the excellent data we put out in this regard as it will make you a better fantasy gamer, so check out the three-down linebacker table and Week 5 tackle projections.

Defensive linemen

Start: Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon, New York Giants

The Giants pair of defensive ends have not had the most explosive starts to the season, both only posting a single sack through the first four games, far from what would have been expected by their fantasy owners considering their ADPs. This week sees the G-Men travel to Green Bay, the best matchup for opposing lineman through three games (before their bye week), thanks to the Packers having allowed eight sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Both JPP and Vernon have four quarterback hits and double-digit pressures, so are waiting for their breakout game this season, which should be this weekend. Both are solid DL1 options in Week 5.
