We’re switching things up in this space starting this week. Instead of highlighting the best matchups, we’ll be jumping right in with straight up sit/start decisions. The goal is to avoid the obvious players and pinpoint players who you may be having trouble deciding on for your lineups. Let’s jump right in.
Start
Carson Palmer, QB, Cardinals (vs. Jets)
Palmer missed Week 5 with a concussion, giving the media plenty of time to open the floodgates on the “Palmer is finished” talk. Meanwhile, he’s just two games removed from lighting up the Buccaneers defense for 304 yards passing and three touchdowns. Palmer’s struggles this season came against the Bills and Rams defenses. The Rams are currently No. 1 in pass rush and No. 10 in pass coverage overall. The Bills are No. 7 in pass rush and No. 8 in pass coverage. Those two teams own our No. 3 and No. 4 overall defensive grades, respectively.
Sure, Palmer is no longer the QB you want to play in any matchup like he was in 2015, but he’s not someone you want on your bench in the best matchups.
