It was another crazy NFL week, with seven teams winning on the road, including some real shockers in the Dolphins over the Falcons, the Bears over the Ravens, and the Giants over the Broncos. But the home teams who did win delivered the garbage time. The Saints hung 52 on the Lions and barely needed Drew Brees to do it. The Cardinals briefly had a five-score cushion on the Buccaneers. And the Texans’ Deshaun Watson is practically paying my bills, his game script performances have been so fascinating. Let’s break it all down.

Watson set the standard for garbage-time fantasy production in Week 5. It would require a magical performance to equal that in Week 6…

OK, I’ll stop before I embarrass myself. But Ryan Fitzpatrick was a worthy heir to Watson this week. He didn’t quite match Watson’s four garbage scores, but he threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns in garbage time against the Cardinals and came respectably close to overcoming a 31-point deficit in relief of the injured Jameis Winston. It’s too bad that no one directly benefited from those 9.5 extra fantasy points — although I’ll circle back to the Tampa receivers whose owners did benefit.
