DFS: Week 2 tournament leverage plays

Winning a DFS tournament while competing in a field of 100,000 entrants is difficult. The best way to tilt the odds in your favor is to play into the chaos of the NFL week — profit disproportionately when things don’t go as planned.

Here are three ways to build that kind of leverage into your lineups for Week 2.

Buy Low on Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys put on a pedestrian showing versus the Los Angeles Rams in their Sunday Night Football opener. They fell, 20-17, and their supposedly elite offense failed to produce a 100-yard rusher or receiver. There are still a number of reasons to get excited about this team in Week 2. Dak Prescott graded as a top-five quarterback on the week and is coming off a top-10 season at the position.

Plus, the Dallas target tree is more appealing after Blake Jarwin‘s season-ending injury. Dalton Schultz, his backup, is primarily an inline blocker and special teams contributor. That leaves Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup as Prescott's only downfield receiving weapons.

Cooper operated as the clear No. 1 receiver, seeing 14 targets while squaring off with Jalen Ramsey on Sunday night. He caught 10 of them for 81 yards and is an essential component of any Dak stack. The next decision point comes down to Lamb versus Gallup. Lamb played four fewer receiving snaps and was used almost exclusively as a slot receiver.
