The season has finally arrived.
Now begins our 22-week-long journey of DFS fun. Who to sit, who to start, busts, breakout players, rising rookies, falling veterans, analyzing and overanalyzing matchups — it’s all here.
I’ll be bringing you DFS coverage for PFF Fantasy during the entire season. The clock starts now with a look at Week 1 DFS fades.
“Fading” a player simply means not playing him — or perhaps playing him, but not having nearly as much exposure as the rest of the crowd.
To keep things simple, I’m going to list a bunch of players that I will likely be fading 100 percent. As of this writing, I won’t have any of these players in any DFS cash game roster for Week 1.
Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. That’s just the nature of DFS tournaments. But usually, my cash game “fades” list is very similar to my tournaments fades list.
Quarterbacks
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals
Dalton squares off against the Ravens, a team that held him to just two touchdowns in two contests last year. The Ravens gave up fewer than 4,000 passing yards last year, one of just 11 teams to do so.
Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Texans were the third-stingiest team against the pass last season from a fantasy perspective, and they bottled up Bortles in Week 14 last season. Bortles completed a laughable 12 of 28 passes for 92 yards in that game.
