There are also many unknowns to sort through that could create some high-risk, high-reward choices as we navigate our drafts.
After going round by round to identify the players with the safest range of outcomes, this piece will focus on a player in each round with the widest range of outcomes for the 2025 season. These players carry significant risk heading into the year but could also greatly outperform their expectations and ADP.
Round 1: RB Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers
McCaffrey scared off many fantasy managers after last season, when he was taken as the 1.01 in nearly all formats and then appeared in only four games amid significant injury concerns. This wouldn’t be the first time in McCaffrey’s career that he has dealt with injuries and missed time, hurting his fantasy output. Entering Year 9 at 29 years old, McCaffrey won't be able to assuage concerns about his injury risk. Fantasy managers have to be OK with that if they’re going to target McCaffrey near the end of Round 1 this season.
