- Texas junior LB Malik Jefferson, a former five-star recruit, has struggled to live up to such lofty expectations in his two-year career with the Longhorns. However, he quietly recorded 33 total stops last season, which ranked T-No. 1 among returning Big 12 linebackers with less than 630 defensive snaps.
- At 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, Jefferson often leaned on his length to bat down passes near the line of scrimmage, as he led all Big 12 linebackers with four batted passes.
- Jefferson terrorized Big-12 quarterbacks, as he earned the top pass-rush grade (69.9) among draft-eligible linebackers in the Big 12 in 2016. He totaled nine quarterback hurries, five sacks and two quarterback hits.
- To refine his craft, Jefferson must improve his tackling technique both in the open field and tight quarters. He has missed 23 of his 134 career tackle attempts (17.2 percent).
