- Leading the Trojans’ backfield in 2017, USC junior RB Ronald Jones made a living running through his opposition last season. He ranked No. 2 among returning Pac-12 running backs with at least 150 attempts in yards after contact per attempt at 3.89.
- Jones’ thumper mentality helped him shed tacklers with relative ease, as he forced the 33 missed tackles to finish ranked No. 4 among returning Pac-12 running backs with less than 200 carries.
- Coupled with his ability to stay up through contact, Jones’ long-distance speed fueled his ability to break off big runs. He leads all returning Pac-12 running backs in yards gained on runs of 15 yards or more with 496 in 2016.
- Despite his success on the ground, Jones wasn’t able to convert his ground production into yards through the air. He ranked No. 36 among that same group of running backs in yards per route run (YPRR) at 0.46.
