- University of Cincinnati DI Cortez Broughton put himself on the map in his first season as a starter with the Bearcats in 2017. He earned the highest overall grade among returning AAC interior defenders with less than 500 defensive snaps.
- Now entering his junior year, Broughton amassed a career-high 24 stops last season to bring his total to 42 in his career.
- Anchoring the Bearcats’ run defense, Broughton had the lowest-percentage of negatively graded plays in the run game among all draft-eligible interior defenders.
- However, Broughton will need to translate more of his pressures into sacks in order to prove reliable as an interior pass-rusher. He has converted just two of his 34 career quarterback pressures into sacks.
