- Utah junior S Chase Hansen, a versatile safety that excels near the line of scrimmage, recorded 23 total stops in 2016 to finish ranked No. 1 in total stops among returning Pac-12 safeties.
- At 6-foot-3, 220-pounds, Hansen can compete with the big guys in the trenches for pressures on the quarterback, as he led all safeties in pass rush productivity (26.8) last season. He amassed two sacks, two hits and six hurries on just 41 pass-rushes.
- When he isn’t wreaking havoc near the line of scrimmage, Hansen is keeping opposing offenses from getting it done through the air. He totaled two passes defensed and three interceptions on just 42 targets in 2016.
- To improve his lead in total stops in the Pac-12, Hansen must find a way to keep opposing ball carriers from slipping through his grasp. He missed 17 tackles on 100 attempts last season, ranking No. 111 in the nation in tackling efficiency (5.88).
