College Football: Top 25 entering Week 11

Halloween weekend got plenty spooky in college football. Six top-25 teams lost, with three coming from the top 10.

Here’s how the PFF top 25 looks heading into Week 11. Please note that these are not the same as the PFF power rankings.


1. Ohio State Buckeyes (Record: 8-0, Previous: 1st)

Week 11 Matchup: at Purdue Boilermakers

Ohio State took care of business with a 38-14 victory over Penn State. Julian Sayin is the new Heisman Trophy favorite after posting a 91.7 PFF passing grade in the win with four touchdowns and only three incompletions. 


2. Indiana Hoosiers (Record: 9-0, Previous: 2nd)

Week 11 Matchup: at Penn State Nittany Lions

Indiana annihilated Maryland, 55-10. The Hoosiers averaged 0.497 EPA per play in the victory while only allowing -0.540 on defense. Indiana looks to become 10-0 for the second straight season and second time ever this week at Penn State.


3. Texas A&M Aggies (Record: 8-0, Previous: 3rd)

Week 11 Matchup: at No. 21 Missouri Tigers

Texas A&M was off this past weekend and is back in action this week as the Aggies go on the road to take on a top-25 team in Missouri.


4. Alabama Crimson Tide (Record: 7-1, Previous: 4th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. LSU Tigers

Alabama was on bye in Week 10. The Tide will take on an LSU team in Week 11 that’ll be coached by Frank Wilson for the first time following Brian Kelly’s firing.


5. Georgia Bulldogs (Record: 7-1, Previous: 5th)

Week 11 Matchup: at Mississippi State Bulldogs

Georgia survived archrival Florida in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, winning 24-20. The Bulldogs’ pass defense dominated in the victory, permitting just 166 yards through the air and -0.278 EPA per pass. 


6. BYU Cougars (Record: 8-0, Previous: 6th)

Week 11 Matchup: at No. 10 Texas Tech Red Raiders

BYU was off this past weekend and will take on Texas Tech in the biggest game of Week 11.


7. Ole Miss Rebels (Record: 8-1, Previous: 7th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. The Citadel Bulldogs

Ole Miss took down South Carolina this weekend, winning 30-14. With quarterback Trinidad Chambliss struggling, running back Kewan Lacy stepped up to carry the offense with 167 rushing yards and 129 yards after contact. 


8. Oregon Ducks (Record: 7-1, Previous: 10th)

Week 11 Matchup: at Iowa Hawkeyes

Oregon was off this weekend and takes on a 6-2 Iowa team in Week 11.


9. Texas Longhorns (Record: 7-2, Previous: 14th)

Week 11 Matchup: Bye

Texas is back in the top 10 following its 34-31 win over Vanderbilt. The Longhorns’ receivers were dynamic in the victory, producing 250 yards after the catch. Arch Manning also did an outstanding job delivering them the football with an 86.2 PFF passing grade.


10. Texas Tech Red Raiders (Record: 8-1, Previous: 12th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. No. 6 BYU Cougars

Texas Tech moves into the top 10 after a 43-20 win over Kansas State. Linebacker Jacob Rodriguez continues to look like the favorite for the Butkus Award after earning a 91.7 PFF grade and tallying two forced fumbles. The Red Raiders host ESPN’s College GameDay this week as they take on another top-10 team in BYU.

12. Vanderbilt Commodores (Record: 7-2, Previous: 9th)
13. Virginia Cavaliers (Record: 8-1, Previous: 15th)
14. Louisville Cardinals (Record: 7-1, Previous: 16th)
15. Miami (FL) Hurricanes (Record: 6-2, Previous: 11th)
16. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Record: 6-2, Previous: 13th)
17. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (Record: 8-1, Previous: 8th)
18. USC Trojans (Record: 6-2, Previous: NR)
19. Michigan Wolverines (Record: 6-2, Previous: 18th)
20. Washington Huskies (Record: 6-2, Previous: 21st)
21. Missouri Tigers (Record: 6-2, Previous: 24th)
22. Utah Utes (Record: 7-2, Previous: NR)
23. Memphis Tigers (Record: 8-1, Previous: 25th)
24. Illinois Fighting Illini (Record: 6-3, Previous: NR)
