After a disappointing 5-7 campaign in 2023, South Carolina rebounded in a big way last season, finishing 9-4 and landing at No. 19 in the final AP poll—the program’s highest ranking since Jadeveon Clowney’s final season in 2013. The Gamecocks’ resurgence was fueled by a defense that tied for eighth nationally in PFF grade (91.8).

While South Carolina lost significant talent on that side of the ball, it returns one of the nation’s premier players in sophomore edge defender Dylan Stewart. His continued development—along with the growth of quarterback LaNorris Sellers and wideout Nyck Harbor—will be key to the Gamecocks’ hopes of breaking into the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff in 2025.
