NFL Week 3 Betting: Best early bets before lines move

Week 2 is nearly a wrap, and betting lines are now available for Week 3. Here are our favorite early spread picks for the slate.

Indianapolis Colts (-3) vs. Tennessee Titans [Total: 43.5]

The Colts are the first team in NFL history to score points on their first 10 possessions to start a season. Indianapolis has yet to punt through two weeks of the 2025 season, a credit to an efficient, calculated offensive scheme from Shane Steichen, as well as aggressive play calling on fourth down.

Although Daniel Jones isn’t launching the ball downfield, ranking 19th in average depth of target (8.5 yards) and 12th in percentage of passes short of the sticks (53.0%), he’s operating Steichen’s offense to near perfection, taking limited risks and striking with the deep ball when the opportunity presents itself.

It’s one thing to do so against a Dolphins defense that lacks the defensive personnel to stymie the Colts' plans. But it’s another entirely to find consistent success and production throughout the game against a strong Broncos defense.

The Colts are set to battle a Titans defense that has struggled through the first two games, ranking in the bottom 10 in percentage of plays allowed with positive EPA. The Titans had no answers defensively for the Rams, ranking 25th in EPA per play allowed in Week 2, one spot behind the team the Colts just beat.

Atlanta Falcons (-3.5) vs. Carolina Panthers [Total: 43.5]

For the first three-and-a-half quarters in Week 2, Bryce Young looked like he was repeating his 2023 rookie campaign, with his team trailing by a few scores and putting up only nine points. But following some turnovers and garbage-time work, Carolina got within one score against the Arizona Cardinals and covered. The point, though, is that the Panthers, for most of the contest, were back as a bottom-tier team — and there is likely some signal there.

Carolina also saw starting center Austin Corbett and guard Robert Hunt depart due to injuries. If they miss Week 3, the team's offensive line is in trouble.

On the other side, the Falcons got their running game going against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football, leading all teams this week in PFF rushing grade and ranking third in yards per carry. While the total output was only 22 points, the Falcons consistently moved the ball and should have no trouble doing so again against a Panthers defense that ranks in the bottom five in yards allowed per play with a run defense that placed dead last in every metric last season and is looking at a similar trajectory this year.

Atlanta's defense generated six sacks against Minnesota, so Carolina's offensive line injuries could be a critical factor in this contest.
