Pick Alshon Jeffery over Keenan Allen in fantasy drafts

We’re getting closer and closer to fantasy drafts with each passing day, and fantasy owners are starting to get into the swing of things. The problem is that they don’t know who to select in particular situations.

Have no fear, as I am discussing the biggest question marks readers have. I went to Twitter and asked you who I should write this head-to-head about, and the response was tremendous. It was clear that there are more than enough questions to cover in the next few weeks.

Today we’re diving into two receivers who are verging on the top-10 at their position, and both are being taken in the middle of the second round. Alshon Jeffery and Keenan Allen are the subjects, and both of them have more than enough of a sample size to go off, so let’s settle this debate as to why Jeffery is the wide receiver of the two you should be taking with your second-round pick.

Quarterback play

There isn’t really a need to discuss this one very much, as Philip Rivers has been a much better quarterback than Jay Cutler in each of their 10 years starting in the league (Rivers came into the league two years prior, but didn’t start until 2006, the same year Cutler did).

Since 2008, there hasn’t been a single year where Rivers has thrown fewer than 26 touchdowns, while Cutler has eclipsed that number just twice in his career, with one of those seasons coming from way back in 2009. Rivers’ ceiling is also much higher, as he’s thrown for 30 or more touchdowns four times, while Cutler has yet to top 28 touchdowns through the air.
