What he does best:

• An absolute ox. As strong as it gets for the position.
• Above-average burst off line of scrimmage that can get offensive tackles thinking.
• Devastating bull rush. Knows how to use his leverage. Always the low man.
• Rarely came off the field. 906 snaps led all defensive linemen.
• Line of scrimmage mover versus run.
• Does a nice job of taking on pullers in the run game.
• Go to move as pass-rusher is downward chop.
• Had only two games in which he finished with less than two total pressures in 2016.

Biggest concern:

• Not a natural athlete by any means. Nightmare playing in space. Liability as unblocked man versus option.
• Stiff as a board. Not going to bend the edge by any means.
• Short arms and stocky build limit his pass-rush repertoire.
• No real short area agility to speak of and rarely if ever crossed the face of an offensive lineman to make a play.
• Has his issues against double teams in the run game.
• Leaves some plays on the field. Missed 15 of 108 tackle attempts over the last three seasons.

Bottom line: Dimick is an enigma as his strengths (power and leverage) are as prodigious as his weaknesses (athleticism and change of direction) are liabilities. There are few players with such a distinct breakdown, but Dimick’s production is difficult to ignore. He was snubbed from the NFL combine, but expect Dimick to find a roster spot as a mid- to late-round pick.
