For Week 16’s installment of what to look for, we broke down the hottest players over the previous few weeks according to our metrics. While a few of those players did let us down (ahem, Ben Roethlisberger), the majority stayed hot and proved worthy of being in your fantasy championship lineup. Here’s hoping those guys helped you hoist that league trophy.
Since most season-long leagues have wrapped up, we’ll switch gears for Week 17 and focus on daily fantasy formats. Specifically, we’ll identify some high-upside quarterbacks, running backs and receivers priced outside the starting tier of their respective position group on FanDuel.
Quarterback
Sam Bradford ($6,700)
Sam Bradford has just one 20-point fantasy outing this season. So, there’s that.
Still, over his last six games, Bradford has been a top-10 passer in our grades, having found something of a comfort zone in his first year in Philadelphia. With an average of 371 passing yards over his past two games (despite the Eagles leading the league in drops) and now entering his last game before hitting free agency, the stars could be aligned for a big day for Bradford. Whereas the Eagles’ offense has been a dicey fantasy bet for much of the season, a significant intangible is now at play in the wake of Chip Kelly’s recent firing as head coach. In other words, for all of the talk about Kelly having lost the locker room, Sunday’s regular-season finale presents the ultimate statement game.
Although Bradford has generally been a low-ceiling, high-floor quarterback throughout the season, in Week 17 he faces a Giants’ defense that has allowed a league-high 298 passing yards per game and no longer has any playoff motivation. If you do decide to roll the dice on Bradford, you’ll want to stack him with one of Jordan Matthews or Zach Ertz.
