Remember when fantasy matchup analysis used to be “Team A gives up the most fantasy points to wide receivers”? Well, we’ve moved from analog to digital and now look at matchups on an individual level. Each week, I dig through the actually coverage tendencies for all 32 NFL teams and compile this information in the WR/CB Matchup Chart, which is released on Thursday mornings.
Week 2 matchup upgrades
Atlanta receivers vs. Green Bay – On paper, this one isn’t even fair. While the Green Bay secondary held their own last week against the Seahawks, this is a unit that consistently got torched last season. Julio Jones gets a perfect 100 percent matchup rating this week. He figures to see primary coverage from Damarious Randall, who surrendered eight receiving touchdowns last year. Those in deep PPR leagues and DFS circles may want to give Mohamed Sanu a look as well. Sanu should have no problem with Quinten Rollins. Likewise, Taylor Gabriel makes for an upside DFS play in this matchup.
Tyreek Hill vs. Philadelphia – Hill had no problem with the Patriots’ secondary in the season opener, putting up seven catches on eight targets for 133 yards and a score. He’s poised for another big game in a fantastic matchup against the Eagles swiss cheese secondary. Ronald Darby is out for Philadelphia, which means Hill will see plenty of Jalen Mills in this contest. Mills is one of just six of this week’s starting corners to surrender more than two yards per route covered since the start of last season.
